Cheap floors is a broad subject, however it can be narrowed down into a few solid choices. What most consumers fail to realize is that there are several factors to consider if you need a cheap floor. First of all the material is part of the cost. Yet, the installation cost can be just as much of a factor. To truly find the cheapest flooring options, you need to consider both the price of the floor choice as well as the cost of the installation. If you pay retail price for the carpet squares it will be as expensive as using any other floor option. However, if you can find them for around $.89 or so per foot it quickly becomes a cheap floor and easy to do.

Laminate Flooring

When it come to cheap floors, laminate is a little more work on the install with prep work being more important than carpet tiles. However when compared to hardwood, carpet or traditional vinyl it is easier. When shopping for laminate and trying to keep tight on the budget, stay with a product in the 6 mil to 8 mil range. Products with a thicker top layer will of course hold up better but will cost more. For most residential applications a 6, 7 or 8 mil product will do fine. You have to be careful though when comparing prices on laminate. There may be hidden fees for less than pallet quantities. You may also think it is a great deal but then find out the product is seconds or off quality but only a nickel cheaper per foot than first quality. The tip on laminate is to be very careful when comparing and ask a lot of questions about warranty, other fees etc.
