Closet Organization on a Budget
Times are tough and money is tight, but that still doesn’t mean that we can’t have the clean and organized closets we all like. As far as I can tell the economy has very little to do with clothes on the closet floor, shoes kicked everywhere and shirts barely hanging on the hanger. Even with zero budget you can do better than that! You can take the time and clean your closet, throw out old junky hangers and use the space you have a little better. But what if you have a little money, say $125 but want to make your closet look nice and a place of pride?
Â
The first thing you can do is improve with hangers; yes hangers that appear so basic and inexpensive can do much for your clothes and closet appearance. You can get 30 all natural wood hangers for $17 at Target, assuming there are two people using the closet you may need two of these. If you have more than 30 garments you may want to consider putting some in draws or storage. That would be $54 total.Â
Â
You can get a natural color shoe rack, which can match the hangers nicely for $20 and if your wife has as many shoes as mine does you will need one for each of you. These are sturdy and can easily hold 15 pairs of shoes each. That total of $40 with the hangers brings the grand total price tag to $94.Â
Â
Last you are going to have a lot of things, also known as stuff that really doesn’t go anywhere well. For these items get two 30 gallon plastic bins with lids. You will want lids, otherwise you will find that they will start to pile up like a dirty clothes hamper. Keeping the lid securely on will keep your area clean and tidy. You can pick two of these up for $30, for a total of $124.Â
Â
You can mix and match or find a color theme that meets your needs, but you don’t need to overspend in order to organize and make your closet look great. This simple suggestion is easy, no real need to plan ahead, just know your space and purchase enough to meet your needs. You can find most of these products anywhere and they don’t cost much. Little changes in your closet can help with stress and your overall mood.
