Get Ready to Save on Your Water Bills With EcoShower

If your a parent, and especially if you have daughter’s like me, this is the product you’ve been waiting for. Product Creation Ltd, based out of the United Kingdom has just announced today that they’re bringing their popular Shower drop to the U.S. market.

The idea behind this handy little device is that knowledge is power, and that if you realize how much water you’re using, you’re more likely to cut your shower short. I’ve tried everything with my daughters running the gambit from yelling for them to get out so their sisters don’t have to take a cold shower (an approach that I think actually backfired), to clocks, to actually turning off the water main (shampoo in the hair stopped this), to actually using a kitchen timer. None of these have worked as well as I liked. While the kitchen timer kind of worked, after it’s “ding” it was quickly forgotten if they weren’t done already.

What I like about this unit is that you calibrate it for the shower water volume and then it gives you a display in gallons of how much you’re using. It doesn’t shut off the shower like some other devices, so if you’re not quite done you can still finish up. It’s easy enough for even young children, and an annoying little beeper reminiscent of the snooze alarm on your nightstand clock will remind you to hurry up.

When you start your shower, and as you consume water the graphic image of the person starts to fill up. When he’s full, you should be done with your shower.

According to Creation Products, based on information provided by EPA Watersense group, the average shower consumes 20-25 gallons of water (that’s 10 minutes with a standard shower head). Creation Products estimate that a family of four can save over $300/year in water and energy bills and 17,000 gallons of water simply by changing our showering habits and dropping to 16 gallons (6.4 minutes). Switch to a low flow shower head at the same time and you can still get away with 10 minute showers, save some money and the environment. Wow a Win-Win situation!

Keep an eye out for this products to hit the US market the 2nd quarter of 2009 priced under $20 this will pay for itself the very first month you have it.
