In days of old, it was widely accepted that men in general were mostly concerned with having a well equipped garage and perhaps a garden shed, while women on the other hand were sold on having a nice kitchen. Well, times have certainly changed, in that nowadays both men and women enjoy having a great looking kitchen and one which is equally as functional. Even kids like a nice kitchen, although of course they usually only use it in order to make an unimaginable amount of mess.

In most parts of the world, peoples first preference is for food cooked at home or food cooked even in kitchen restaurants as opposed to buying processed food. Processed food is food that has been made in factories and is long lasting. It has to be heated in micro wave ovens to be utilized for further consumption. There is a general feeling of assurance that food that has been made in kitchens is nutritious. Kitchens are thus an integral part of daily human life; a part that cannot be ignored and done away with.

These save space because they are supported by cabinets and also offer a convenient place on which cooking devices or items like soap may be kept. These surfaces are also used to chop vegetables or meat in kitchens. Although they use less space than tables, if they are not properly installed they may look tacky or may become dirty after a few days.
