Once I purchased a house, which had a fireplace, I was thinking it absolutely was quite awesome. On the other hand, I did not really think of exactly where I might obtain the wood to burn or the way to keep it, so for the initial 3 years within our residence the fireplace was not used. In the course of a social gathering, a neighbor inquired on the fireplace and agreed to offer me a pair of firewood storage shed blueprints and fill me in on where you might get the timber.

There is nothing quite like a fireplace on a cold and wet winter day. I have to admit that I have not always felt so warmly towards a fireplace. Now I even think watching the flicker of the flames is as relaxing as watching the waves come on shore.

During the winter season, nothing beats relaxing by a warm fireplace with some friends and sharing a couple of cups of warm coffee. As you may already know, the secret to keeping the fire burning constantly in the fireplace is by keeping it dry when it is being stored. Wet and damp firewood is the bane to your existence when the winter months get really cold and instead of a nice, blazing fire you will end up in a smoke-filled room. A really lovely fireplace is utterly useless when you can not make it do what it is basically supposed to do, which is burn firewood. Firewood does not come cheap, and you must therefore store and age it properly. Yes, not only good wine gets better when aged properly but also firewood in order for it to produce a nice, roaring fire. The basement is the last place you would want to store firewood, for the simple reason that you must as much as possible avoid keeping it in a damp or moist place. Besides, there is probably too much stuff there already. The simple and practical solution is to keep it in a shed, preferably one which is outdoors.

My first home did not have a natural fireplace, it only had room for an electric one. But my second home which I move into a couple of years ago has a great fireplace and a fantastic wood burner. Obviously my next step was to get firewood storage shed plans so I could keep and season lots of wood for burning.
