Vinyl Flooring Prices – What’s it Going to Cost?

If you are looking to figure out vinyl flooring prices for an upcoming installation, you will be pleasantly surprised to know that regardless of the option that you choose, your overall cost should be pretty low.

If you do it yourself, your costs will be even lower. With a variety of options available and the ease of installation, this is one home remodeling project that you may just want to forego the contractor and get your feet wet on DIY projects.

The cheapest of all options is going to be peel and stick tiles. This is going to be very inexpensive and extremely easy to install, but it is also going to wear down pretty quickly if it is getting regular usage. It is definitely not something that you would want in your kitchen, but would be perfect for a spare bedroom. You can find this pretty readily for about $.50/ sq. ft.

Vinyl tiles are the next step up that gives you plenty of texture and styles to choose from. While there are lower priced tiles in this category, you will also have the option of purchasing commercial vinyl flooring that will hold up very well to high traffic and moisture. The price goes up a bit, but you will definitely get your usage out of it. You can find some of the better tiles for about $.80/ sq. ft.

Vinyl sheets are the final option and the price goes up pretty considerably here. It is extremely resistant and very useful in homes that have pets or a lot of kids. It will stand the test of time and avoids the problem of a tile being lifted in the middle of the floor by a curios child or pet that is trying to dig his way to China. This style of floor can cost you as much as $20/ sq. yd.

Now if you add a contractor fees in to vinyl flooring pricing, these costs will go up considerably. Depending upon the contractor’s experience, you can expect to pay somewhere around $5 or $6 per sq. ft. for the installation.

It will cost you more to have it installed than it will for the supplies. This is why you may want to give it a shot on your own. It is cheap enough that even if you mess it up, replacing it three times over is still less expensive than hiring someone to put it down for you . . .
