What Do Bedbugs Look Like?

If a mosquito is not the cause, then you might have bedbugs. How will you know how if it is not a mosquito bite? Bites of bedbugs are raised red bumps or flat welts accompanied by intense itching. Bites tend to last longer than mosquito bites. These may not take up to nine days to appear and when they do, a sequential pattern can be seen.
For instance, you may see three in a row! If you are now a lot sure that it is a bedbug bite and not a mosquito bite, the next step is to check your mattress for any bedbug. Red or brown spots on the sheets and mattress are signs that there are bedbugs. These spots are blood from a crushed bug or fecal matter. Most bedbugs can be found in cracks of the mattress.
If you have found bedbugs, the next question is: “Is this a bedbug?” What do bedbugs look like?
Newly hatched nymphs are translucent and lighter in color. Bedbugs molt before reaching maturity. Nymphs are as small as apple seeds or lentils. After molting, adult bedbugs are reddish-brown, wingless, with flat oval bodies. They have hairs which give them the banded appearance. Adults grow to 4-5 mm in length and do not move quickly.
